Simple Lessons Really Stick
March 17, 2024
We continued to present the Transformational Community Development (TCD) program, and we studied anger and its harmful effects on our lives. After the lessons, Amani shared, “I am a quick-to-anger person, and I reacted to any normal situation with anger until I heard a lesson about anger and self-control in the TCD class. One time, my daughter broke some cups in the kitchen, and my initial reaction was full of anger and insult, but I remembered the lesson in the TCD development meeting, so I apologized to my daughter and taught her to preserve relationships.”
One of the other lessons offered was a lesson about generosity and giving—how we can be generous in dealing with others. Peter shared, “I had a friend of mine in school, and he had a need to eat. I remembered what I had learned about giving: to be generous and give to the needy, and not to be a selfish person. I also learned to participate in the needs of my friends and to help from my heart and with all joy. So, I gave him a sandwich from my lunch, and he was very happy because I cared about him.”
Thank you,
