Water Need Supersedes Walk
April 4, 2024
Education is an important part of Transformational Community Development (TCD). The initial assessment for Nakoyaga Village identified the need for a school as a major need. School-aged children have to walk 14 kilometers (about 9 miles) to and from school daily.
This led to further discussions with the chief, council members, and residents. Funding the building and running of the school was a major concern if the plan is to go ahead. They agreed that at this time, they would not be able to fund and run a school.
During the discussion, the need for potable Water in the community was determined to be the greater priority. Further discussion to solve this issue will occur and different committees will be formed.
Thank you!
