Sudan, located in northeastern Africa near Egypt and Ethiopia, has a rich cultural history but faces ongoing conflict and instability.
Global Hope Network International is actively working in Sudanese villages through Transformational Community Development (TCD). In another community, it is helping an orphanage by providing a borehole well, allowing children to attend school instead of walking long distances daily to collect water.

PROJECTS IN SUDAN
Sawaya Village TCD
Sawaya is a remote village in the Nuba Mountains of southern Sudan, home to 7,500 people living in extreme poverty. Many residents fled northern Sudan to escape persecution. The village has only two wells, leading to severe water shortages, especially in the dry season, and resulting in dehydration and poor hygiene. Women often sleep near the wells to secure water. With limited income options, families survive by selling grain. A GHNI worker was the first outsider to visit and introduce Transformational Community Development, offering hope for a better future.
Alabu Village TCD
High in Sudan’s Nuba Mountains, Alabu Moroda’s people have escaped persecution only to face extreme poverty. In this remarkable region, where 40 distinct ethnic groups preserve their cultures despite generations of hardship, families dream of better futures for their children.
Currently, over 2,000 people depend on a single well. Yet their spirit remains unbroken.
GHNI’s goal is to transform lives by creating three new wells, building health-protecting latrines, and establishing a grammar school where children pursue dreams. Through goat loans and sewing training, mothers develop sustainable family incomes.
Kandaka Orphanage
The Kandaka Orphanage in Kauda, Sudan, serves 150 children orphaned by ongoing conflict, with more expected. With no nearby water source, children walk 20 minutes each way to collect water, often missing school. A local leader, inspired by Transformational Community Development (TCD) training in Yida, launched a women’s center and goat-raising initiative in Kauda. However, clean water remains a critical need. Drilling a borehole near the orphanage would improve health, education, and support the broader community. It would also provide a central location for future TCD trainings and spread hope across other villages in Sudan.
