Dhanvi’s* Story
“My name is Dhanvi, I live in Dhanapal-3 Katuwaghat, in the Morang district. There were nine members in our family before and now all my children are married. Now, three daughters and four sons have married and live with their wives in their own homes. So, my husband and I are alone. Even though we are growing old now, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) programme has been supportive of us. When I attended TCD class, I learnt many TCD lessons and was inspired to do Income Generation in our old age and be sustaining. We had no income sources before, so we lacked food, clothes, health, and other essential things. Many times, we slept without food. But now, the TCD movement taught us how to raise Income sources and live a better life. I would have liked to start a small business but I had no money. I requested a loan. The TCD committee provided 5000 rupees as a loan and I borrowed some money from my daughter and bought a buffalo. My buffalo gave birth to a baby buffalo. I sell the milk. I can manage all the expenses from this income. I am very very happy now.”
