A New Year with New Hope
March 17, 2024
It’s a new year with new challenges, but also new hope that through the partnership with the Transformational Community Development (TCD) program, radical changes and improvements will be seen in the lives of the people in the villages around the House of Ruth.
In January, significant progress was made at the sewing workshop. A new training session began, with participants mastering essential skills in using scissors and sewing machines, along with acquiring precision in measurements.
During the English and computer classes, the students delved deeper into pronouns and honed their skills. Emphasis was placed on clear and effective communication through the appropriate application of pronouns in various contexts. Another key focus in language lessons was mastering the concept of singular and plural nouns. Students engaged in activities that reinforced their ability to distinguish between singular and plural forms, enhancing their foundational language skills. Students then actively participated in activities centered around the simple present tense. Through exercises and real-life examples, they developed a solid grasp of how to express routine actions and general truths using this fundamental tense.
Consistent with our approach, January’s lessons continued to incorporate interactive games and engaging activities. This ensured that students not only understood the nuances of the English language but also retained this knowledge in an enjoyable learning environment. Each week, the students also continued taking computer lessons and worked through the basic skills needed for their computer journey.
During the beauty course, women had the opportunity to acquire newfound expertise in the art of hair styling, cutting, and embellishment.
Our second month of Adult English conversation courses is underway, with 6 to 10 participants. Students are immersed in practical conversations, from airport arrival to exploring the city. Teaching methods include fostering friendships, paired discussions, and adapting scenarios based on preferences. Students aspire to fluently converse and expand their vocabulary.
Thank you!
