Goat Keeping Fits a Nomadic Lifestyle
March 17, 2024
Gada Korma is a village located in Marsabit County, 450 km from Isiolo County. Most people living in that community are from the Borana people group, and most of them are living below the poverty line, below a dollar a day. Most people living in that community are nomadic, leaving the village with a population of about 500 people. People are living in grass-thatched houses with no water sources or livestock near them. They have to go for kilometers in search of water.
Many of these individuals lost their livestock during the long drought season and had no means to care for their families. As a result, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) volunteers came up with ways to support fifty households with goats. Each household was given one goat. The people of Gada Korma are very grateful for the support GHNI has shown the community.
Thank you!
