Trade has been a major source of income for the women of the Tchintchagle area of Batemon, but due to the recent heavy rains, sales have greatly reduced, as most women sell commodities displayed on trays and do not have adequate shelter during storms.

During the recently concluded Transformational Community Development (TCD) meeting, the Income Generation Committee deliberated with the women on how to pursue alternative sources of income to sustain their families despite the current challenges. Bassandine, a new mother of twins who has been a participant in TCD for a while now, was quite appreciative of the encouragement and sense of togetherness TCD has fostered among the women of the community.
