The Income Generation Committee conducted a business project for Umm Majdi—a project for creating cleaning materials and selling food supplies. The family was suffering from financial needs due to low income, and her and her husband’s old age meant they could not work outside the area where they live. They had a place to start a business project in their home, but they did not have enough money. However, after they took a loan from the Income Generation Committee, the project began to succeed and raise their income. Umm Majdi said, “I thank GHNI for encouraging me with this project. I was suffering from financial needs, but now my husband and I have improved in financial conditions, and this has helped our family.”
We are teaching Transformational Community Development (TCD) lessons for teenagers in Ezbet El-Haggana. Within the group of teenagers, Noura participated and said, “When I was 14 years old, I always felt shy and frustrated among my friends because I would not participate much, but when I attended the TCD class, I learned new lessons. I learned that I will not fail and that my view of myself must be positive. After that, my life really started to change. Now I look at myself positively and I am open to receiving encouragement from others. I started to have self-confidence. I changed from a life of failure to a life of success.”
