We have completed a wonderful water project in partnership and supported by the local government, implemented by our community members and coordinated by the Transformational Community Development (TCD) committee. The local government provided the materials, and community members did all the labor. Before that, a community member, Mr. Rokaya*, had a water lifting pump and agreed to use it for all the people if they could build a water harvesting tank for storing water and distributing it to all the community members. This project will provide the people with water for drinking, cooking, washing, and irrigation.

The TCD training has impacted Dhruvan’s* life immensely. He has a small family of four members who are desperately poor. His health was very weak because of an intestinal operation, so he couldn’t do labor to provide income for his family. After learning TCD well, he got seed money from GHNI and started keeping a goat and some chickens. He is now self-sustainable. Dhruvan now has the knowledge of how to run a business, and does his business continually, which is sufficient to manage his family expenses.

*For the purpose of safety and wellbeing, “Rokaya”, and “Dhruvan” are pseudonyms for the individuals being helped by this project.
