In the Gem community, community health volunteers and Transformational Community Development (TCD) workers have joined forces to combat malnutrition. Through door-to-door visits and community meetings, they have educated families on the importance of balanced diets and provided hands-on TCD trainings on affordable, nutritious meal preparation. This joint effort has empowered women to improve their families’ health, resulting in a significant decrease in malnutrition cases.
With support from TCD coaches, the program has also introduced sustainable practices like kitchen gardening, giving families easy access to fresh produce. Beneficiaries like Mary have seen transformative changes in their households, adopting healthier eating habits and sustainable food sources. Mary’s success story is just one of many as more families in Gem Village embrace the lessons from the TCD trainings.
The collaboration between TCD workers, volunteer health workers, and GHNI is driving lasting change in Gem Village. This initiative is not only improving health but also fostering self-reliance as the community moves towards a healthier, more sustainable future. Gem’s progress stands as a powerful example of how teamwork and education can transform lives and secure a better tomorrow.
