In Bahatola, a village in Dumka, Jharkhand, many families were unaware of the importance of a balanced diet, leading to health issues and reliance on market-bought vegetables treated with chemicals. As part of our Transformational Community Development (TCD) efforts, we organized a training session to educate the community about nutrition and its impact on their well-being. Realizing that education alone wouldn’t suffice, we provided seeds to encourage families to grow their own organic vegetables.
The results were remarkable. Ten families have already started their own kitchen gardens, reducing their dependence on chemical-laden produce while saving money. This initiative, led by the community with guidance from TCD coaches, is sparking a movement towards self-sustainability and healthier living for the people of Bahatola. It’s a small but meaningful step towards lasting change.
