The Transformational Community Development (TCD) program has brought hope to the community of Jerkhi Village. The TCD training, strategy, and activity plans have been effective among the community members. A committee has been formed and is working on Education and Income Generation to bring transformation in the community.

Earlier, the performance of the village children’s education was very weak. The total number of children admitted to school in this village is 34, but children didn’t attend school regularly. On the first visit of the TCD team at the school, we found only six students attending school. Our TCD team met with parents and talked about the children’s status. Then we talked to the school management team about the attendance at the school. Villagers shared that their income status and disruptive circumstances were the reasons for not being able to provide education for their children.

We also conducted a meeting with the school management team and parents. The school committee president and principal are committed to working hard to bring children to the school. The TCD team raised awareness among the community people, and as a result, the number of children attending school has increased. And the TCD committee helped school-attended children with stationery materials (school supplies) in order to encourage them. Very quickly they started to come regularly and brought other children, too.

This is how we have been able to connect TCD with the community, children, and school, which brought good results about sending children to the school. Our team has planned to start a tutoring center by next month.
