This resilient mother was not born without legs; her condition developed gradually after she began experiencing unexplained difficulty standing. Over time, her legs became fully paralyzed. Despite her physical limitations, she remained committed to her family—raising three children with her husband. Her daughter is now completing high school, while her two sons have already earned university degrees. When our Transformational Community Development (TCD) team arrived, she took a keen interest in their work, particularly in how resources were shared equally among men and women. Although her condition made participation difficult, she regularly attended meetings focused on improving village cleanliness. The group warmly welcomed her and even visited her after gatherings, recognizing her determination and spirit.

Her involvement didn’t stop at meetings. During last year’s bean harvest, she made the effort to be present, cooking meals for the workers even though she moves using her hands and sandals. Through TCD, she received five bowls of beans and was also supported with a sesame field, a gesture of empowerment from the farmers’ group. Remarkably, when her sesame was harvested, she gave ten bowls back—one for each group member—as a sign of gratitude. This ongoing support has deeply impacted her life, and her story is a testament to how inclusive TCD can uplift even the most physically challenged individuals when given the opportunity.
