Transformation from Poverty to Productivity
A little seed money, some guidance, and a lot of hard work took Toya from extreme poverty to self-sustainability.
Toya* a member of Transformational Community Development (TCD) training, has a powerful story of transformation. There was a time when she and her family lived far below the poverty line, with no food security, no proper clothing, no land for farming, and no source of income. She had no education or training, and because of extreme poverty, her family received little respect or support from the community. Life during this period was extremely difficult and uncertain.
Toya’s life began to change after joining TCD awareness classes and training. With the seed money provided by GHNI, she started pig rearing and later purchased a cow, earning income by selling milk. She learned the importance of saving money and income management, which helped her family overcome food shortages. This season, she leased land and successfully cultivated wheat, harvesting enough food for her family for an entire year for the first time in her life. Today, through farming and livestock rearing, she is self-sustaining, respected in her community, and an inspiration to others, with continued guidance from the TCD team.
