The villagers work as garbage collectors from Greater Cairo, and most of the women work in sorting and separating garbage. Villagers suffer from various diseases, especially chest allergies as a result of burning garbage and unpleasant odors.

We started a center for children and women to teach health, psychological and social lessons, as well as skills training for sustainable income generation. We have a local committee that leads the project and engages the training team in transforming the region.

GHNI has been working in the village since 2016. Through our local partners, we established a TCD committee and connected with local leaders.

The committee led a movement for change in the community using local resources and helped train children, adolescents, women and families in groups to go out to the community. We help teach sewing to women, offer eye clinics and health awareness seminars to villagers.

Al-Dawiyah village is a poor village located in the southeast of the city of Minya, most of its residents work in quarries and others in agriculture. We started working with villagers in 2020. There is a problem with lack of health awareness for the villagers, resulting in the spread of diseases, anemia, worms and salts.

We set goals to reach the largest number of women and children to help them psychologically, physically, and socially. We developed sustainable solutions including home visits for women, making liquid soap, Dettol and oriental sweets with the aim of starting small projects, health seminars on the diseases prevalent in the village, and a seminar on mental illnesses was also conducted.

The TCD program started in 2020 with about 30 women who wanted to visit and help the poorest families. There is a lack of job opportunities, marital problems, poverty, and high spread of diseases.

Through the TCD program, we reached the largest number of women and children by conducting health awareness seminars, training small projects for women such as making liquid soap, Dettol, making accessories for women, teaching hairdressers, installing fans for poor families, and distributing food.

Shobra Al Khiema is a neighborhood east of the greater city of Cairo with a population of one million people. The neighborhood suffers from problems such as family issues, lack of income and poverty, addiction, children dropping out of school, illness, violence and road accidents.

We addressed several problems within the community through TCD. Seminars were held to address marital problems, a campaign for the prevention of road accidents, a medical campaign called Sugar and Correct Pressure. We will also conduct sewing classes to increase income with local partners, as well as start an awareness campaign against smoking.

Al-Shurafa village is a small village east of the Nile, 15 minutes from the city of Minya. They have a great need for education and many suffer from diseases and poverty. All the women of the village do not work and most of them are unable to read.

The goal and solutions are to help women psychologically, physically, and socially. We have weekly training with women, where we offer lessons in crafting, sewing, first aid, nutrition, and income generation.

GHNI started working in Ezbet El Haggana in November 2020. The neighborhood suffers from many problems such as racial discrimination, poor education, family problems, disease, poverty, and domestic violence.

Through TCD, we are training local committees to help with societal problems. These committees will offer seminars for the prevention and resolution of marital problems, food aid distributions every month for the poor, and education and wellness classes.
