Trying Times
Despite fear and deportations, care for the Sudanese refugees continues with hope for the future.
In Cairo’s Ezbit el Haggana, Sudanese refugees are increasingly anxious due to residency verification campaigns and deportations. Families live in fear, confined to their homes and unable to work. Raheel, a mother of two, was recently arrested and separated from her young children (aged three and five). While she was detained, her 5 year old fell and passed away! These are real struggles the Sudan refugees endure.
Despite these concerns, the Sudanese Transformational Community Development (TCD) committee expressed confidence in overcoming the situation. This week, we visited families, distributed food, and resumed TCD groups for children and women. We also provided meals for children during this challenging time.
Thank you,
