We continued to provide Transformational Community Development (TCD) lessons in the teen group. Amira shared her story. “I am 13 years old, and I love everyone, but sometimes I feel inadequate and that I am not valuable. My friends reject me because I have a heavy tongue and some letters are not clear in pronunciation. I was trying to win my friends over, but they rejected me as their friend. Through the lessons I heard in the TCD group, I learned that I am valuable and special in other things and that I am valuable to my parents, and I have value even if all my friends reject me. I do not need to attract their attention in order for them to accept me. The result is that I have come to accept myself with all my faults, and I see my value with my own eyes.
Umm Hanan, a participant in another TCD group, said, “I am a widow, and I live with my children. I used to interfere in some matters in their lives, and I wanted to help them raise their children. After listening to the lessons in TCD, I learned that I should not interfere in their lives except when they want to take my advice in a matter. The result is that they and their children have come to love me more than before, and I have become beloved by every one of my sons’ wives.”
Thank you,
