A Road Well Traveled
New village champions braved treacherous roads to continue their training and acquire the skills they need to engage their communities.
Dendeh and Mohammed, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) workers for Bomborma and Gbessebu, respectively, had an opportunity to undergo TCD training. As the month began, they were busy with preparing for the training held in Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau. There they were trained alongside over 90 other TCD champions from 14 African countries. Though the training lasted only five days, planning for the trip to Bissau and the logistics of road travel to and from Bissau took almost the entire month. Dendeh, Mohammed, and four other TCD champions traveled for four days on extremely bad roads to Bissau from Sierra Leone. The hassles of the journey were somewhat demotivating to them. However, by the end of the training, Dendeh and Mohammed were in high spirits. They said the new knowledge they have gained at the TCD training is very impactful, as they have acquired skills and strategies to engage Bomborma and Gbessebu communities for transformational change.
Thank you!
