It is such a step forward when girls are able to learn about women’s health issues in a safe and welcoming environment.
Knowledge is power, and the best way to empower a woman is to give her the resources to learn about her body, her capabilities, her strength, and her amazing qualities. The Transformational Community Development (TCD) worker from Kiwanjani did a menstrual health management session at Kiwanjani Primary School. The discussion focused on menstrual hygiene and how to have a safe period. The girls wrote questions anonymously, which were answered by the TCD worker.
Through these lessons, girls from Kiwanjani Primary are now informed and are grateful because topics such as menstrual health and sexual health are considered taboo in their community. Thanks to TCD lessons, menstrual stigma and conversations regarding the lack of access to sanitary products and proper hygiene can be had.
Thank you!
