Stepping towards Change
The ladies of Upper Egypt Village Cluster are pursuing a satisfying life.
Maryam is a woman from the women’s group in Shosha Village. She lives in a very small house with her three children. Her husband has a condition and cannot work, so she is the one who must meet their financial needs. Unfortunately, Maryam suffered kidney failure due to water pollution and was taking medicine. Our Transformational Community Development (TCD) group helped install a water filtration system, and now she is completely recovered. She is living a happy life and supports her family through a small TCD project. She is able to meet her family’s needs and is satisfied.
Gerges is a mother from the group of women in Saft al-Laban. She lives on a very dangerous street that is known for drug users and other disreputable people. She shared that she always wanted to know what was happening in the lives of others so she could share the juicy gossip. Then she heard the TCD lesson on boundaries. She learned that boundaries promote healing in herself and in her relationships. She began to take steps to change and started a small business selling honey. This helps her focus on work instead of what is going on in others’ lives. She has become known for her high-quality honey and hopes to grow her business. She is more content now and hopeful for her future.
Thank you,
