Open sharing and equipping others to transform their villages helps to overcome poverty through the multiplication of trainers.
Training of Trainers TCD 1 (ToTCD 1) training was conducted on 21st January to 24th in Yangon with 20 carefully selected participants from different places in Myanmar. The training equips these leaders to serve their family and community through Transformational Community Development (TCD) principles. The leaders are committed to apply the training in their own communities. This ToTCD 1 opens a big door for our team and Myanmar CDE Network to collaborate with different humanitarian organizations and passionate individuals.
The formation of the Myanmar Center for Development and Environment (CDE) Network opens up the door for collaboration between TCD practitioners and encourages a local TCD core training team in Myanmar. The first training has shown potential opportunities for empowering more local TCD trainers and multiplication of TCD programs in the country regardless of the current war. The participants were excited about the principles, approaches, and the impacts that this training could have in their work. A few participants also mentioned that they have been waiting for this training for years and they were thrilled to learn the concepts and practical skills within the ToTCD1 training. Other participants have already been doing some sort of community development work or humanitarian work, and they said that this training gave them a lot of good tools and answers to their questions. They were all engaged during the training and really eager to put their training into practice.
We were able to facilitate 15 core lessons that would help them understand more clearly what TCD is, how it works, and how they can apply the lessons in their work. The participants’ feedback was overwhelmingly positive and encouraging. These participants were given assignments to do such as knowledge transferring or a seed project at the end of the training. They were all so excited to do something about the training when they got back to their respective places. We formed a Viber group to follow-up with the training and get updates from the participants.
As MCHEN, our next step would be to follow-up with the participants on their assignments and continue to equip them to do TCD programs in their locations. We are grateful for safety and security over these four days of training, and we are hopeful to do more TCD work with this group in the long run.
