Prior to this season, nobody really cared about drinking purified water. The people of the community didn’t know about germs and their harmful effects. Now, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) initiative has brought about awareness, and people are conscious of the kind of water they drink. They now know the importance of drinking purified water and engage in various methods of water purification. We no longer have locals complaining of stomach aches.

During the dry season, the community usually faces water scarcity, but this quarter, a partner organization decided to give a borehole to the community. This project stirred the hearts of both the Water Committee and the chief, so they held a meeting to address their contribution. At the end of the meeting, they decided to contribute sand, transportation, food, and manpower.

Community members are now aware of the adverse effect of mosquito bites. They have been taught the need to sleep under mosquito nets. More and more people are getting better as awareness is being raised. There was also a medical outreach held in partnership with another organization, which is helping provide medical services to a lot of locals.

The Income Generation Committee decided to take a chance to grow their resources and started raising funds to buy corn to create a supply to resell later on. At the end of their deliberations, they resolved to raise at least 50,000 CFA ($86) to start the initiative.
