During the Transformational Community Development (TCD) classes for children held for Sudanese refugee children, a young girl named Roumia shared her experience and the positive change the program has brought to her life. She shared, “Since I started attending the TCD classes, my life has become like a green tree full of fruit. I’ve started taking care of my health, my mental well-being, and my relationships with the people around me.”

Last week, Roumia learned an important practical lesson titled “How to Say Sorry When You Make a Mistake” and later recounted an incident. “I was joking with my friend Roumaisa and said something inappropriate, and she was upset.  I remembered the lesson I learned, and I went and apologized, saying, ‘I’m sorry, and I won’t do it again.'”

Roumia affirmed that she felt happy and relieved after apologizing and that she is proud of herself and the change happening in her life through the classes. She says, “I’m so happy to continue with the TCD classes.” The story of Roumia reflects the true impact of the program in building children’s awareness, developing their life skills, improving their behavior and relationships with others, and instilling values ​​of respect, apology, and taking responsibility for mistakes.
