Simple Change, Satisfying Result
Simple solutions make a big difference in Chawni Village’s water cleanliness.
In the Transformational Community Development (TCD) village of Chawni, the TCD committee members, together with community participants, learned how to make a simple and low-cost water filter. This training was especially important because the village relies on hand pumps for drinking water, and almost all of them produce water that contains high levels of iron.
During the session, I explained the dangers of drinking contaminated water, including the long-term health risks caused by excessive iron and other impurities. The community members were very attentive and expressed deep concern, as this issue affects every household in their village.
As a result, the people were highly motivated and united in their decision. They all agreed that they would begin making their own water filters and use them regularly to ensure their families have access to safe drinking water. This commitment shows the community’s growing awareness of health and hygiene and their willingness to take practical steps to improve their well-being.
Thank you,
