Sustainability Lessons Inspire a Village Model
As villagers watch a shy, poor woman increase her income, they are inspired to do the same.
Mahima* is a Transformational Community Development (TCD) member in our group. Before she joined our TCD group, she had no income sources and it was difficult to manage the family’s basic needs.
She attended the TCD lessons on Income Generation. Our TCD committee decided to provide her a little seed money and trained her in self-sustainability by doing small micro business. She started a micro business and is doing well making a profit. She is very happy and successful at raising her family income.
Mahima had never dreamed of the kind of success that she would get. She used to think of herself as weak, poor, and shy to stand among the group of people. TCD training, classes, and follow-up brought transformation in her personal and family life. Now, she has raised her income source and desires to learn more from the TCD program and is ready to share with other villagers about what she achieved.
Villagers need inspiration and support to do TCD and be transformed. Neighbors became attracted by looking at how Mahima changed her life. She is trying her best and becoming a model for the community.
We gave some gifts to our neighbor village’s children. We played games and had fun together. I gave some leaders information about TCD’s Training Of Trainers (TOTCD1) training. They were impressed and wanted to join our teams in the projects. I also gave some lessons about hygiene and how we can clean ourselves. They were very focused and learned very well.

Thank you!
