I just received an urgent email from our GHNI partner in Syria telling me the story of Noura, a single mother of two, who fled her village due to fighting. She arrived in Aleppo with nothing but her two hungry and malnourished kids, and the clothes on their backs.

When she received a food package from our partner, her eyes swelled up with tears of gratitude and she said, “I didn’t know how I would feed my children this week. These supplies are our survival.”

We always want to help people end poverty, but when they are in crisis and hungry, you’ve got to feed them! Our goal is to raise $250,000 so that we can act fast to help more than 3,000 families to stave off hunger while they struggle to rebuild their lives.

For just $80, you can provide a family of up to four with a week’s supply of basic food items – flour, rice, and beans for sustenance, cooking oil and spices, tea and sugar, and fresh vegetables or fruit, when possible. A gift of $320 can provide them with a full month’s food supply – a gift that provides real hope!

Food is available to purchase locally and our partners can deliver food packages to hundreds of families immediately. Long-Term Development

Beyond immediate relief, we’re committed to implementing our proven Transformational Community Development (TCD) model to help communities become self-sustainable. We hope this will include: 

• Vocation Skills Training
• Education Support for children to have access to education
• Basic medical care and support.
• Mental Health Services – Recognizing the trauma many have endured, we’ll provide counseling and mental health support.

GHNI has extensive experience and success responding to similar “transitions of power.”  One of the most recent examples is when the Taliban took over in Afghanistan.  While others were fleeing, our brave staff remained and served their fellow countrymen.  As a result, our work there continues and is flourishing to this day.
