In the Transformational Community Development (TCD) village of Baribeda, farmers faced a major challenge during the summer season, as their fields remained largely barren. Due to the lack of suitable crops and limited awareness of alternative farming practices, agricultural land was left unused after the main harvest. This resulted in reduced income opportunities for the villagers, affecting their livelihoods and financial stability. Among the farmers, there was nobody cultivating their fields during the summer growing season, which meant there was a season of limited Income Generation.

To address this issue, the Income Generation Committee took initiative and encouraged farmers to utilize their fields during the summer season. They introduced wheat cultivation as an income-generating activity. They provided guidance, motivation, and support to help farmers understand the benefits of growing summer crops. Demonstrations and awareness efforts were carried out. As a result, the month of March highlighted Mr. Marandi’s successful attempt as an example for others to follow.

Due to these efforts, there has been noticeable progress in the village. We believe that in the coming days, farmers will start adopting summer wheat cultivation, leading to better use of their land and increased Income Generation. The community is gradually becoming more confident in trying new farming practices, and the dependence on a single cropping season is reducing. The initiative by the Income Generation Committee has brought positive change, improving both agricultural productivity and the economic condition of the villagers.
