Some are called a “Man of Peace” or “Woman of Peace”, but we have a “Family of Peace”.  Even when we visit them without notice, without any specific reason, whether it’s a holiday or just a weekday, there is always a set table and warm smiles from the hosts. Their home consists of only two rooms, and they have three sons, but they are happy to see us. They are participants in the Transformational Community Development (TCD) agricultural project. This year, the project will expand to 10 new families who will learn to raise broiler chickens for personal use or sale. We will teach them how to raise chickens without antibiotics, using eco-friendly methods.

We have just finished building the living space for the brooders and cages for the chicks. Next, we will have a day of learning after which participants will receive their chicks. In 45–50 days, they will have 3-kilogram chickens. We have been using this method ourselves for two years and want to share our experience and knowledge.

Another aspect of the “Family of Peace” that we appreciate is sometimes, when others criticize us to our faces or behind our backs because of the project (for instance, if someone didn’t receive chickens or if a bird died), the wife steps in and defends us as if we were her own relatives. It is very touching.
