Something as simple as growing garlic and having a latrine can improve a family’s physical and financial life.
Read MoreSome joyous news this quarter is that the neighboring villages that were refusing the activities of Transformational Community Development (TCD) in their locality are now the ones pleading and calling on TCD workers to come teach TCD activities in their villages. Thanks to this new attitude, we discovered several villages that are potential candidates for the TCD program.
We are excited to share the transformative impact of TCD’s programs on our community in Nakoyaga Village. Since TCD’s introduction to this village, they have witnessed significant improvements in education and access to clean water. This is a testimony from Nouhum, the son of the late village chief.
“Initially, I was skeptical about TCD’s programs, but their emphasis on education resonated with me. TCD workers Malachi and Paul stressed the importance of education and provided exercise books and pencils to our children. This encouragement motivated me to enroll my children in a primary school 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) from our village. My example inspired other villagers to follow suit, and TCD’s influence has changed our community’s perspective on education.”
Nouhum also testified about their new access to clean water, saying, “TCD’s borehole project has been a game-changer for our village. Previously, our women would trek 3.5 kilometers (2.1 miles) to a nearby village to access clean water from a hand pump. This journey was not only time-consuming but also posed health risks, including snake bites. TCD’s solar water pump has eliminated these risks and provided our community with a reliable source of clean water. This has significantly improved the health status of our children, reducing instances of cholera and other waterborne diseases. TCD’s interventions have had a profound impact on our community. We are grateful for their efforts, which have enlightened us on the importance of education, provided access to clean water, and improved our health and well-being. It has benefited not only our village but also six surrounding communities that can now access water from our village. We extend our sincerest gratitude to TCD for their transformative work in our community.”
Other matters arising are the need for an educator in the village, along with a new toilet. Sister Prisca volunteered in this regard. She is an educationist with a passion for the village. However, she is faced with the difficulty of transportation and upkeep. We also raised the need for a VIP latrine in their village because the toilet they use is unsightly and not a good toilet.
Thank you!
