The water in Upper Egypt is polluted, and many poor people suffer from kidney diseases as a result of water pollution. The Water Committee conducted a study among the extreme poor and those who were sick and were able to help them with a water filter.

Ayyad from Taha Village is disabled, has no job, and did not have a water filter. He said the water is not clean and causes intestinal problems. “I did not think of owning a filter because it is very expensive for me. Thank you, GHNI, for helping my family. Now we drink pure and healthy water.”

Mariam from Shousha Village was an introvert who lived alone and did not want to mingle with her friends. After attending the Transformational Community Development (TCD) group, her perspective changed. Last month, we had a sports day and learned about the importance of teamwork and the importance of having friends in our lives. Mariam participated and said, “I am very happy because I have friends through the TCD group.” Her family, friends, and schoolteachers witnessed the transformation in her.
