Salma, a teenage girl from the Bani Mazar region, was going through extremely difficult family circumstances. She lived in a home plagued by numerous problems, most notably constant rejection and abuse, which directly impacted her psychological state. She lost her self-confidence and became withdrawn and isolated, unable to express her feelings or communicate with those around her.

Over time, and upon joining the Transformational Community Development (TCD) teen group, Salma experienced a new kind of security and acceptance. She began to ask questions, inquire, and participate, and this was the true beginning of a tangible change in her life. She felt that this group represented an outlet for life, a place where she could be loved, heard, and understood, and where she could learn how to become a better person.

Through her time in the group, Salma learned to read, and she began to focus on summarizing the ideas that resonated with her and sharing them with her peers. She did not stop there; she became an influential figure within the group, inviting other girls to join and participate, sharing the change and support she had experienced.

Today, Salma is a living example of the powerful impact a healthy and safe environment can have on a teenager’s life. She has transformed from a broken, withdrawn girl into an active and inspiring figure, taking steady steps toward growth and maturity, inspiring those around her with her story.
