Mental Health Help
Focusing on an aspect of Wellness often overlooked, House of Ruth dedicates time and treasures to the mental wellbeing of their women.
For the first time in the group dedicated to healing trauma, trauma specialist Rosine introduced personal one-on-one sessions. This decision came after realizing that many of the young ladies felt uncomfortable sharing their stories in front of the entire group. The Transformational Community Development (TCD) course was designed for girls aged between fifteen and twenty—a very delicate stage in life—so creating a safe and private space for them to open up was essential.
Among the many sessions, one story deeply touched Rosine’s heart. A fifteen-year-old girl named Lourd entered her session carrying a heavy burden. With quiet vulnerability, she admitted words that Rosine could never forget. “I feel that I’m not loved at home, especially by my father.” Lourd shared that she and her father had been in conflict and had not spoken for an entire year. She also revealed that she was often blamed for every problem that happened in the house, a weight too heavy for someone her age to carry.
Rosine sat with her, listened closely, and made sure she felt safe and loved during their time together. She gently encouraged her to consider forgiveness and to take small steps toward rebuilding the broken bond with her father. A few days later, Rosine received a heartfelt message from Lourd—her relationship with her father was beginning to heal, and she was finally starting to feel better.
Thank you!
