Part of the TCD mindset is looking at problems and finding “out of the box” solutions.
Flooding has become a major issue in this region due to the heavy rains, but instead of being discouraged, the people are being encouraged by the Transformational Community Development (TCD) teachings and have decided to turn this challenge into an opportunity. By engaging in swamp farming, they can use the waterlogged areas and are clearing debris and digging to prepare the land for farming rice. The seedlings are currently being raised in nurseries to protect them from the elements, and after they have grown to an extent, they will be transplanted to the prepared land.
They have decided on a variety of rice that can thrive in these conditions and are grateful to TCD for timely exposure to agricultural practices that are helping them take advantage of what could have been a disaster.
Thank you!
