In the villages of the Tea Garden Cluster, namely Shikarpur, Devipur, Mech Basti, and Saraswatipur, many adults could not read or write. This lack of literacy limited their opportunities, made everyday life challenging, and left them feeling discouraged about the future. Parents worried about how they could guide their children’s education when they themselves had no basic skills. Hopelessness and uncertainty hung over the community.

Recognizing this challenge, our Transformational Community Development (TCD) committee introduced an adult literacy program. The initiative invited villagers to join and learn basic reading and writing skills. The response was enthusiastic, with men and women from all three villages coming together with a strong desire to change their situation and take steps toward a brighter future.

Today, the results are visible. Villagers who once struggled with hopelessness are now able to read and write simple words and sentences. This achievement has given them pride and confidence. Families are more hopeful, and children are inspired by watching their parents value education. The community is becoming stronger, healthier, and more united. Villagers express gratitude for this opportunity, recognizing that education is unlocking new possibilities and shaping a better future for all.
