Gladice, a 26-year-old mother of two, struggled daily to provide food for her family. Living in a small mud house, she depended solely on petty trading—selling charcoal—which barely earned enough to feed her children. Her children were often sick due to poor nutrition and unsafe drinking water. School attendance was irregular due to financial hardship, and she felt hopeless.

In early 2025, through the Transformation Community Development (TCD) program, she joined the Income Generation Committee, where she received training on savings, small business skills, and how to grow and sell cassava. With the knowledge gained and small seed support from TCD, she has been able to start a small cassava farm. Today, she has moved from struggling to feed her children to easily providing for their meals. Through this source of income, two of her children are now back in school. Her story has now encouraged other women to start their own small farming businesses as well.

The TCD program has not only improved her financial life but also restored dignity and hope. She is proud of the transformation in her life and is a testimony that sustainable transformation is possible. Reflecting, Gladice shared, “Before TCD—I felt forgotten. Now I have hope, I have work, and I am respected in my community.”
