Support Sparks Growth
Community support fosters personal growth, economic opportunity, and emotional recovery.
Jumana was isolated, always felt lonely, and at times she felt rejected by her family. After she joined the Transformational Community Development (TCD) group, the leaders noticed her shyness and lack of response until the sports day came. With the goal of teamwork, Jumana learned she is part of a team and she must participate with her friends. She shared many ideas in her group, unlike previous months. Jumana exclaimed, “I was the reason for my team’s victory in the games, and they encouraged me a lot. Thanks to the TCD leaders, my life has changed.”
“My name is Moza. I am 25 years old and married with two children. My life was very difficult and unbearable because of the lack of understanding between me and my husband, who used to abuse me and talk negatively about me. He did not see me as useful in anything, which led to disturbances in our marital life and deep internal wounds. I began to withdraw from life and not care about my husband. This was reflected in my children and my marital life. However, something unexpected happened in the TCD class. We studied a book called “Healing the Soul,” and I began to change. I regained my self-confidence and forgave my husband. I also took a loan through TCD and bought a sewing machine. My life has changed, and my wounds have healed. Thank you, GHNI.”
The prices of hygiene products are very high in the markets, and many women do not have the money to buy them regularly. A training day was held on making liquid soap for women in Saft Al Laban Village within the Upper Egypt Cluster. Umm Fadi shared that she will make soap in her home and sell it to neighbors and shops to generate income for her poor family. After the training, she gave gifts of liquid soap to her neighbors, who liked the product and asked to buy it from her.
Thank you,
