Ma’an, a city in the south of Jordan, is a region where many people live in great need and face significant poverty. Through our Transformational Community Development (TCD) volunteer, Ihab, we learned that the community is not only in need of material support but also in many other aspects—especially education. Schools in the area are not very strong, and many families cannot afford to provide their children with extra courses, particularly language classes. Realizing how much they needed both educational support and our presence motivated us to take action.
As a result, we launched an English class in Ma’an, starting completely from scratch. The students had no prior knowledge of English, so the focus was on learning the language rather than improving it. After two months, we visited the class and were amazed by their progress. They have learned new vocabulary and were able to introduce themselves in English, which was incredibly encouraging for all of us. This achievement would not have been possible without our dedicated TCD English teacher, Sarah, whose hard work and passion played a major role in the students’ success.
Thank you!
