Training Brings Economic Stability
From hardship to hope, one widow inspires change.
Edha* used to work as a day-laborer for others, and she had been carrying the responsibilities of the family with great difficulty. When her children were small, her husband suddenly passed away due to a heart attack. The death of her husband increased the suffering in the family. She was unable to feed and care for the small children with the income of day-labor of one person. She spent a lot of time crying. The money she earned could barely cover the food bill, and her life was dismal due to her financial situation.
When the Transformational Community Development (TCD) class was started in Katuwaghat Village, she also became a regular member of TCD and bought a goat with the seed money she received from GHNI. With the income she earned, she started farming vegetables and rice on leased land next to her small land. With the money from the income she got from the vegetables, she bought a rice paddy which will provide rice for her family for a whole year. After that the economic change started in her family, and the family’s first sorrow and lack of food changed to happiness. Such a big economic change happened through TCD, and she now sends her four children to school.
As these changes have happened through TCD, she has become a great example for other communities and people. Other people are surprised to see that she has become economically knowledgeable and self-sustainable, and she is announcing to people that TCD is very necessary for poor and backward communities. It is important for the poor and the underprivileged to know about the GHNI organization’s training.

Thank you!
