In a life once defined by lack, Sushila’s pivot to poultry and goat farming has turned her hardship into a blueprint for village-wide transformation.
Sushila’s* life is a powerful example of transformation through the Transformational Community Development (TCD) program. Once trapped in severe financial hardship, she and her husband had no stable source of income and relied entirely on daily labor work to meet their family’s basic needs. Providing food, supporting their children’s education, and managing everyday expenses were constant struggles. Even purchasing simple educational materials for their children felt like an overwhelming burden. Everything began to change when Sushila joined the TCD program. Through its practical teachings, she gained valuable knowledge about self-sustainability and ways to create income generating opportunities.
More importantly, she found hope, confidence, and a vision for a better future. Inspired by TCD lessons, Sushila decided to start goat keeping with the help of seed money from the program. She understood that goat farming would take time—at least one and a half years—to generate significant income. Instead of waiting, she took a proactive step and began small-scale poultry farming to support her family’s immediate needs.
Today, Sushila is fully dedicated to her work. She no longer lives in fear of failure but is driven by confidence and determination. Her commitment to TCD is strong, and she actively participates in its programs, becoming a role model within her community. Her journey from having no income source to managing both goat and poultry farming reflects a remarkable step toward sustainability. Sushila’s story is not just about one individual—it represents many others in similar situations who are ready to transform their lives with the right support.
Recognizing this need, the TCD committee plans to provide seed money starting next month to support at least ten families in launching income generating activities. With continued guidance and small financial support, many more lives like Sushila’s can be transformed.
Thank you!
