Do you know how important the seed money provided by our Transformational Community Development (TCD) program is for the poor families in the community? Without this seed money, the family of Shanoli* of Ramantar Village would have not been able to raise their income. But look at the change and happiness in her life today. Here’s how her financial condition has improved. TCD’s teaching and minimal seed money brought happiness to the community members. In this village, all of us with the TCD team worked together to bring transformation to community members’ lives and help them increase Income Generation. TCD trained the villagers on poultry farming, goats farming, bee keeping, and they did continuous follow up.
In TCD, we help villagers by giving seed money along with teachings and trainings. Most of the people are unemployed due to lack of skills. The Income Generation program this month has been soo effective in the life of Shanoli and her family. Due to lack of investment, her capacity to earn money was limited. No matter how hard they worked, they were not able to earn enough income. Her children were growing up, and it was difficult to get clothes for them and feed them proper meals. From the seed money, they started poultry farming. She took care of chickens and she started earning a good income from this project.
In this way, TCD brought transformation into the lives of Shanoli and her family. They are very grateful to TCD because TCD created a source of hope for her family. Shanoli is just a representative person; there are many other community members who are involved in TCD who became self-sustainable. They have thanked TCD a lot and hope that GHNI continues work to transform the lives of needy villagers in the community. Thank you.
Transformational Community Development (TCD) Update
TCD© is GHNI’s coaching-based process for helping villages transform themselves and break the cycle of extreme poverty.
Water
TCD taught community members to make drinking water clean and pure and worthy of drinking by boiling and filtering by water filter machine. In the rainy season, the community made a safe drinking water source that was polluted by flooding. The Water Committee is working to continue to supply the community with safe drinking water for their daily use. The community worked together to repair and maintain the drinking water pipeline. Villagers are using clean and pure water for drinking and cooking.
Food
TCD taught the community about agriculture and paddy farming. Many families of this community have no fields for farming, but whoever has a field began paddy farming this quarter. By this quarter’s production, they can supply 5-6 months of food. And by this quarter, the community started to eat a balanced diet as well. Community members became more attracted towards kitchen gardens and using small spaces to produce food.
Income
The community Income Generation members progressed well. For example, TCD had supported Ruphas with seed money and he started an ornament making business, receiving a good income. Not only that, but he also trained other youths to make ornaments and how to become self-employed and self-sustainable. Other members are also doing well. Seed money is used well and supports the community.
Education
For the community children’s school education, TCD raised awareness about the importance of Education and helped community families to build their financial base so that they can provide a good education for their children. TCD targets poor children of the community to receive an education. I met with the parents and listened to their problems. I encouraged them to do Income Generation work to be able to give their children a good education. The result is that the community children are not going to school.
Wellness
TCD awareness lessons taught the community about health. This quarter, there were much less sick children and other members of the community. TCD will continue teaching about personal healthcare and community health.
Thank you!
