Self-care is how you take your power back. The community members from Gem Village have decided to take care of their health and bodies. The Gem health workers, with support from Transformational Community Development (TCD) training, are leading efforts to combat bedbug infestations through education and hands-on assistance. Their focus on practical techniques ensures cleaner, safer homes across the community. Key methods include washing fabrics in hot water to kill bedbugs and eggs, thorough vacuuming of crevices and mattress seams, and the use of natural remedies like killing bedbugs and their eggs using hot water. In severe cases, the health workers guide families in safe pesticide use and regular monitoring to prevent infestations.

Thanks to these efforts, families like Ekon’s now enjoy bedbug-free homes and peace of mind. The combined dedication of health workers and TCD training has made a lasting impact, improving both the health and well-being of the community.
