Sanitation Struggles
Grappling with water and sanitation needs, the Mechbasti community works together to address the impact of poor health practices.
Transformational Community Development (TCD) classes, practical activities, and motivational sessions have been consistently conducted among three community groups. These continuous efforts have inspired increasing numbers of villagers to actively participate in the TCD movement.
During regular field visits, the facilitator listens attentively to families as they express their struggles related to health, finances, and social challenges. With compassion and commitment, the facilitator strives to guide them toward practical solutions. A significant focus of the initiative has been wellness education, addressing the widespread impact of diseases caused by poor health practices.
Last month, a notable development took place in Mechbasti, a village grappling with limited access to clean drinking water. Despite the presence of a deep well, the water drawn from it was found to be unsuitable for drinking and cooking. After thorough discussions and careful assessments, the community collectively resolved to install a tube well. This decision marks a major step forward in promoting the health and overall well-being of the villagers.
Akash is an active member of the TCD committee in Mechbasti. His life has significantly changed since joining the program. Previously, he did not use a toilet and was unaware of the importance of proper sanitation. Through TCD awareness and training, Akash was encouraged to adopt healthier habits. He took the initiative to build his own toilet, and with support from TCD, he successfully completed the construction. Now, Akash not only practices good hygiene himself but also motivates and teaches others in the village to improve their lifestyle. His transformation is a powerful example of how TCD can bring positive change to individuals and communities.
