Resolving a Crisis
Finding a new source of drinking water will resolve many of Baromasia’s health problems.
There is a severe shortage of clean water in Baromasia Village. Residents are forced to rely on dirty and unhygienic water sources, which are unsafe even to touch. This alarming situation has resulted in widespread health problems, particularly affecting children and the elderly.
Our Transformational Community Development (TCD) team identified this problem through community-led discussions. In response, they collaborated with local leaders to explore practical and sustainable solutions. One solution in progress is identifying a potential clean groundwater source and raising awareness about water purification techniques.
To address this need, TCD staff encouraged the village to take initiative. With their support, the community decided to hire someone who specializes in identifying underground water sources. This process was new to many, but it brought hope. The TCD coaches helped guide the community through the decision-making and coordination involved in bringing the expert to the village. As a result, we successfully located a promising underground water source. This will allow us to dig a borewell at the exact spot where water is available, increasing the likelihood of success and reducing wasted resources. The community is now more hopeful about resolving the water crisis.
Thank you,
