Yelivo locals jointly declared war on swarming flies brought on by poor hygiene practices. The community joined forces to fight their common enemy, cleaning the areas surrounding the well that serves their water needs. The Water Committee championed this cause, while the Wellness Committee also spearheaded a campaign to educate school children and women selling food about the importance of handwashing and covering food. Everyone is being encouraged to update their hygiene practices.

A community once plagued by indifference is now embracing the principles of Transformational Community Development (TCD) for a healthier and more vibrant future. A lack of communal care and the daily challenge of unsafe drinking water led to widespread health issues and preventable illnesses. The community is now focused on extending water access to underserved parts of Yelivo by exploring solutions such as additional wells or boreholes. There are ongoing engagements to pull resources together to achieve this goal. Meanwhile, families are experiencing fewer illnesses and a higher quality of life, thanks to improved hygiene and sanitation practices.

Looking ahead, the people of Yelivo plan to continue leveraging TCD principles to address challenges, enhance their collective well-being, and secure a better future for everyone. The transformation in this community illustrates the power of unity and education in overcoming deeply rooted challenges. This change matters because it sets a foundation for sustainable health and development, inspiring Hope and determination for a brighter tomorrow.
