Mindset Change Empowers Community
Learning to solve their own problems leads to transformation.
If you want to change your community, you have to change your mindset. “We have been struggling with water problems for many years. We never thought that we could solve our problem by ourselves.” These are the words of Rusul*. He continued to say, “Since the team has started visiting us and started Transformational Community Development (TCD) training in our village, we have learned that problems are not bigger than our thoughts.
“For many years, we have been struggling for clean drinking water. We used to travel 1.5 kilometers to bring clean drinking water. This was one of the big issues and problems of our village. When the committee was established, and we started learning through TCD to identify our water problem, then we needed to think about how to solve this issue of water. We held meetings and to involve other people in our village rather than just the committee.
“It became our goal to have water in our village. Then we talked with the team to solve this issue. We decided to make a water well in our village. We started working and now we have access to clean drinking water in our village. Nobody is going outside for water, and nobody is worried about water because we have a lot of water. Every time in our village, we can drink any time without hesitation.”
Transformation is the Goal and Community is team, when the team is united, Goals are on target. Shehla* is living in the village and passionate to help her family. She said, “When I started taking part in TCD lessons, I felt that we can do many things by ourselves. I learned about the FAITH (Food Always in the Home) Gardens. I started using the FAITH Gardens in my home so that I can save money for my family. I got many ideas and encouragement through the TCD training.”
*For the purpose of safety and wellbeing, “Rusul” and “Shehla” are pseudonyms for the individuals being helped by this project.
Thank you!
