Avoidable Health Issues

Eunice grows vegetables to ensure her family’s sustainable health.

A square area enclosed by hay in Ngassa Village, Cameroon. - Avoidable Health Issues

Diseases caused by a lack of adequate nutrients and vitamin deficiency are gradually being reduced in Ngassa Village as residents like Eunice benefit from the understanding brought about by Transformational Community Development (TCD) training. These meetings have shown the community how to take their health improvement into their own hands.

By taking great pains to ensure that her small backyard garden is well irrigated from the nearby well, Eunice has been able to augment her family’s nutritional needs by farming vegetables and spices. She grows peppers and other crops that support her family’s health despite poverty, helping them prevent avoidable health challenges.

Eunice is an example of what TCD is able to achieve in rural communities by highlighting locally sourced and affordable means of maintaining good health in order to ensure sustainable development.
