Confidence to Face Challenges
Innovation is a key part of success.
Mama Moussa, who has been one of the beneficiaries of the donated palm oil processing machine, has discovered another source of income by using palm oil to make washing soap. This level of ingenuity, inspired by Transformational Community Development (TCD), has given her the confidence to sell the locally made soap, thereby increasing her earning capacity.
The Effaoho TCD committee is still reaping the benefits of the donated water borehole provided to the community. Having learned the importance of maintenance as a vital step in sustainable development, they raised funds from within the community to make small iron gates at the entrance of the borehole as a safeguard from wandering animals and playing children. The gates will minimize the possibility of damage, ensuring the extension of the life span of their water source.
Although much progress has been made in the area of Education, the challenge of insufficient classroom desks, among other lacking educational facilities at Effaoho, still persists despite TCD efforts. This was clearly evident during the National Quiz held at the school recently. Staff had to divide the children into two groups for the quiz in order to ensure proper monitoring. The children had to alternate their attendance at the test due to a lack of seats.
Thank you!
