Samanvita* has a beautiful family of six members. Her family’s economic conditions were very weak due to the lack of income sources, and they always struggled with financial problems. It was very difficult to manage the family’s basic needs. She had no income source, no ideas, and no knowledge of Income Generation and financial sustainability. She was sad, having no hope of ever becoming financially successful.

The Transformation Community Development (TCD) training brought a change into Samanvita’s life. After she joined TCD classes, she was encouraged to participate in Income Generation activities; she became active in meetings, classes, and training conducted by TCD and gained knowledge of goat keeping. She decided to work on Income Generation and realized the possibility of goat-keeping. Samanvita and her husband built a tiny goat house by themselves, but still they had no money in order to buy goats. So TCD helped Samanvita with a little seed money. With that seed money, she started goat keeping as the family’s income source. She started with five goats, and now there are twelve goats. Now her goats started to bring income. The whole family is happy with goat keeping. They are confident that there will be no more financial trouble in their family.

Somebody could say this is a small thing, not a big achievement, but for those who are under the poverty line, like Samanvita, this is a big achievement. Samanvita really became successful in raising her family income source. TCD’s awareness-raising programs, a little seed money, monitoring, following up, and her dedication have played an important role for Samanvita to become successful in raising an income source by goat keeping. She was financially at zero, but now she’s becoming a hero. She is a good advocate for TCD as she encourages others to be involved in TCD activities.
