TCD participants keep no secrets and share their successes freely with the youth of the community.
Recently, secret societies have been a major distraction and hindrance to the young people of Bomborma, interfering with their active participation in economic activities that would bring about sustainable development. Thanks to Transformational Community Development (TCD), the Income Generation and Food Committees gathered young people together and began to teach them TCD concepts on how to create a source of income from resources found in their environment. They emphasized the importance of participating in the next farming season instead of relying on hooliganism. They even offered the teens the opportunity to work on the farmland that the community had set aside for TCD activities. In a positive response to their endeavors, some of the teens chose to work on farming the local variety of swamp rice and cassava in preparation for the next rainy season. TCD is transforming the perception of these young people in regard to Income Generation, financial independence, and community cooperation and the role it plays in poverty alleviation and sustainable development.
Bomboma has also executed a health campaign by mobilizing community members to maintain the area surrounding the community well and keep it clean in order to ensure improved community wellness through a hygienic water source.
The Food Committee has also begun cleaning the land that was set aside for TCD activities by the community, although no measurements have been taken to ascertain the size of the land. The community has expressed a desire for some financial aid to enable them to hire a qualified land surveyor to ascertain the size of the land so they can better plan for its use in both farming and other TCD activities.
Thank you!
