The heavy rains in the area are pushing the Komende community to branch out in their farming techniques.
In Komende, the agricultural pursuit of planting rice in nurseries has earnestly begun with the hope that the seedlings will be readily available for transplanting when they are grown enough to withstand the end of summer rains.
Thankfully, Transformational Community Development (TCD) has taught the villagers to be prepared as the farming season begins in full and has helped equip them with farming practices that can enable them to produce an adequate harvest that will be sufficient to satiate hunger and alleviate poverty in the coming months.
Taking advantage of the heavy rains, this community has also decided to pursue lowland farming thanks to the training they have received from TCD. The project has progressed to the extent where the transplanting of the rice seedlings from the nursery to the prepared land is under way. Though the rains still persist and slow down the work, the villagers continue pressing on so the work is done before the planting season is over. They are considering the need for raincoats and rubber boots so that they can continue to work despite the rains. They are optimistic that they will finish the project.
Thank you!
